Location
Just beyond "Good Karma" and before "Reincarnation"

Amed is approximately 3 hours drive from Denpasar Airport and the southern resorts of Kuta and Nusa Dua. The Amed area is a series of small bays and quiet fishing villages. The beaches are lined with colorful Jukung fishing boats that sail each morning at sunrise and return later to unload their catch.

The safe, calm waters are perfect for swimming and their is an abundance of vibrantly colored fish and beautiful coral. Some of the best snorkeling and diving in Bali can be found in this area. New species of marine life are often discovered here. Our beaches are also frequented by playful dolphins and an occasional whale.

Selang Beach, where Blue Moon Villas is situated is a mixture of golden and volcanic sand with many beautiful shells. A variety of tropical trees provide welcoming shade if you need it. You can snorkel directly off the beach.

THINGS TO DO

If you want to relax and completely unwind, please come to Amed. Blue Moon Villa is both a romantic hideaway and a haven to recover from the stresses and strains of a busy life. It can also be the centre for great adventure (as much or as little as you choose.)

Diving
Some of the best diving in Bali is along this coastline and there are several good dive schools in the area. We are less than 30 mins. drive from the famous shipwreck at Tulamben - but we also have our own lesser-known Japanese shipwreck just 500m away from our Villas!

Snorkeling
Has to be one of the most relaxing and intriguing pastimes. Here you can snorkel straight off the beach to where the wreck lies in shallow waters, surrounded by a myriad of incredible fish and covered with beautiful coral.

Fishing
Fishing trips can be arranged with the local fishermen. Bring home your catch and we will cook it for your lunch or dinner.

Sailing
You can take a boat out to watch the sunrise or to explore more of the coastline and do some snorkeling or swimming. Moor up and have lunch at one of the restaurants in another bay. Sailing with the wind in these brightly colored sails is a timeless experience. You can even sail from here to Lombok.

Trekking
You can go trekking into the valleys and hills behind us. You may walk alone, however, it is preferable to use a local guide. There is an abundance of flora, fauna, and bird life. Higher in the mountains, you may even see a deer. There is also a sacred spring where the water sprouts from four different places - with four different tastes.

Guided Tours
Can be arranged. Short trips, half-day trips, full-day trips - up to you.
Suggestions:

  • Tirtaganga and its majestic water palace. Cool, crisp, clear water and amazing views of the rice terraces.

  • Amlapura is the capital city of this regency of Karangasem. It is a lovely old town - not yet used to tourists. It is delightful to wander around, taking in the colors, sounds, and smells.

  • Ujung is beyond Amplapura. Here is the site of the once splendid Ujung Water Palace - with a little imagination one can still conjure a vision of its former glory.

  • Sideman. The drive to Sideman is one of my personal favorites in Bali. Go and have lunch at the Sacred Mountain Sanctuary, return via a different route.

If you just want to stay home; you may relax by the pool or on your verandah, take a swim, sip a cocktail, fresh juice or a cold beer, have a massage, read a book. In our restaurant, we have a small library as well as games (Scrabble, Monopoly, Cards, etc.) There are also a couple of guitars and we often have a quiet sing-song in the evening. In a far corner of the garden, underneath a flower-covered pergola, we have a pool table, fun for experts and beginners alike. Life without the TV is so much more fulfilling!
